we went to the beach even though it was hazy and gloomy but we still dipped our toes in until he picked me up fireman style, carried me waist deep, and dunked me under. the cold of lake michigan re-awakening being met by the heat radiating from his skin. the heat i loved so much but couldn’t be in contact with for more than a few minutes while laying down together because i also run warm. i miss feeling like i was overheating. scorching under sheets. melting me back to a resting state of human. not maker. not machine. human.
